Full Mouth Dental Implants for a Comprehensive Solution

Full mouth dental implants are a comprehensive solution for patients missing most or all their teeth, or who need to have all the teeth in one or both of their jaws replaced. Although this is a very complex procedure that may take several visits to complete, full mouth dental implants are the only way to fully restore the feel, function, and appearance of healthy natural teeth.

After the loss of a permanent tooth or teeth, a number of issues can develop that negatively affect your quality of life, including your ability to speak or eat the foods you enjoy. A lost tooth or teeth can also begin to affect the physical appearance of your face and change the feel of your bite. The overall health of the surrounding teeth also becomes compromised, resulting in greater risk of wear and tear, and eventual loss. One of the most effective methods for addressing this issue are dental implants. If you are missing all or most of your teeth, full mouth dental implants may be right for you.

From regular periodontal maintenance to repairing, correcting, and preventing periodontal disease, including the placement of dental implants, we are proud to provide you with the highest quality dental care available in a comfortable environment. We are also committed to ensuring you know as much as possible about your oral health so you can make important, informed decisions regarding your oral health and treatment options. Full Mouth Dental Implants Procedure

Prior to having the procedure performed, an initial consultation will be necessary to determine what approach is best to meet your unique needs. This will include an examination of your jawbone to ensure it has the strength and structural integrity to support an implant. Having full mouth dental implants placed can be a very long process, so it is important to ask any questions you have about the upcoming procedures during this initial consultation and share what your specific treatment goals are.

Once you are sufficiently numbed, if necessary, any decayed teeth are removed and the area cleaned. Depending upon your specific treatment plan, dental implants will be placed in your upper and lower jaws. There are several different types of implant types, including All-on-4, All-on-6, implant supported dentures, individual dental implants, et. al. The biggest difference among these implant types are number of implant posts placed. Some patients may require six to eight implants in the upper jaw alone, whereas others may be good candidates for All-on-4, which can return patients back to a full smile using only four posts.

Regardless of the implant type, once these posts are in place, it will take approximately three to four months for the jawbone cells to attach to the titanium post (osseointegration). A temporary set of dentures or bridge will be provided during this healing process. At your return visit, we will examine the posts, and if they are ready, attach your permanent teeth to them.

Aftercare Following Full Mouth Dental Implants

To reduce the risk of complications and enjoy a speedy recovery, it is essential to closely follow post-operative instructions. If you are prescribed antibiotics and/or pain relief medication, follow the recommended dose until the prescription runs out. It is also common to experience swelling and soreness as well as mild bleeding, all of which should go away over time. One of the most important things aftercare instructions you need to follow is to stick to a soft food diet for several weeks following the procedure, slowly reintroducing harder foods as your healing process progresses.

Once you have completed the healing process, the most effective way to ensure the longevity of your full mouth dental implants and prevent similar issues from developing in the future is to maintain good oral hygiene. In addition to brushing twice daily (minimum) and flossing on a regular basis, it is equally important to brush and floss properly. Every time you brush, do so for at least two minutes. Once you are done, clean your toothbrush. It is also important to replace your toothbrush every three months or sooner if the bristles become irregular or flay.

Along with following good self-care, it is also important to schedule regular checkups with your periodontist at least every six months. These regular appointments allow us to conduct a professional cleaning that will remove plaque and tartar that cannot be removed using traditional methods, and provide us with an opportunity to survey your current oral health and identity and address issues before they develop.

If you follow these best practices, you will maximize the longevity of your full mouth dental implants and enjoy a bright, healthy smile for many years to come!

Cost of Full Mouth Dental Implants

The cost of full mouth dental implants will be determined by a variety of factors, including what (if any) type of dental sedation is used, the number of visits required to complete the procedure, what type of implant material is used, and how much (if any) of the cost is covered by your dental insurance plan. We are happy to help you file your claim and ensure that you maximize your insurance reimbursement, but any remaining balance will be your responsibility.

If you are not able to pay the full amount due at the time services are rendered, the following financial options may be available:

  • Care Credit: 0% interest for (maximum) three months (Our office pays a fee to keep this interest loan free for three months, provided the bill is paid on time)
  • 0% interest for pre-authorized debit/credit card for (maximum) four months (Agreement must be signed beforehand)
  • Most credit card companies provide interest-free credit for one year to new cardholders.

We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards.
